Stealing is not okay. During childhood, we learn to respect other people’s possessions. It’s actually a pretty simple concept.
But despite that, there are always those who think they can get away with anything, including theft.
Therefore, it’s nice to hear about thieves getting the short end of the stick every now and then.
Such was the case for a 56-year-old Florida man who stole what he thought were prescribed drugs from a nursing home, reports the Miami Herald.
As the old saying goes: “Karma comes after everyone eventually,” which means that everyone will face the consequences of their actions sooner or later. One reason this expression has been around for so long is perhaps that it is often true, and the 56-year-old of today’s story was no exception.
Thought the bottle had opioids
The 56-year-old who lives in Miami broke into a local nursing home to search for opioids.
He found a jar of pills that had a label on them that read “Hydrocodone,” a powerful painkiller described as very addictive.
However, the 56-year-old didn’t get the desired effect from the tablets. Instead, the reaction had nothing to do with getting high.
Not opioids, laxatives
It turned out that the pills that the man had stolen were, in fact, laxatives handed out to the elderly at the residence who were having a hard time with digestion.
So instead of getting high, the 56-year-old suffered from severe diarrhea for a few hours.
According to the police report, the man threw away the pills when he realized what they were.
Sitting in jail with an upset belly
This 56-year-old has been previously convicted of burglary and theft. He was also under probation, so he appears to have gotten a longer sentence for repeated offenses.
This is probably one of the best examples of karma coming back to bite someone in the ass.
While this man doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes, it’s good to see people facing the consequences of their foolish actions.
