Bullying is never okay – neither among children nor adults. It can destroy lives and it helps no one. To repeatedly expose a person to physical or mental violence is a cowardly act, however, some people are unfortunately very mean.
If there is something that makes me happy, it’s when people who are bullied manage to overcome all difficulties and take back the reigns of their life, and especially when the bullies get a taste of their own medicine. I have a very hard time feeling empathy for people who deliberately abuse others.
Louisa Manning is a girl who was bullied every day at school, but 10 years later she would get the chance to finally have her revenge – and fight back!
While attending primary school, when Louisa was 12 years old, a group of guys bullied her every day because of her looks. She received nasty comments and psychological abuse constantly – things that no child should ever have to experience.
Invited by the bully
However, Louisa was a strong girl (now a strong woman) and didn‘t let those dreadful days at school decide the rest of her life. With time, she started loving herself again – and about 10 years later, the 22-year-old was asked out on a date, she wrote, according to Buzzfeed’s notable Facebook post.
And the one who invited her – was none other than one of her old bullies.
“My gut instinct was to say no,” Louisa told Buzzfeed.
However, she accepted, and instead, hatched a masterful plan with her friends.
So when the bully was waiting for his date in the agreed restaurant, he got quite an unexpected surprise instead. Louisa had asked one of the staff members to give him an old photo with a handwritten note on the back.
The note said:
“Hey [name blurred],
So sorry I can’t join you tonight.
Remember year 8, when I was fat and you made fun of my weight? No? I do – I spent the following three years eating less than an apple a day. So I’ve decided to skip dinner
“You called me a Manbeast…”
Remember the monobrow you mocked? The hairy legs you were disgusted by? Remember how every day for three years, you and your friends called me Manbeast? No, perhaps you don’t – or you wouldn’t have seen how I look eight years later and deemed me fuckable enough to treat me like a human being.
I thought I’d send you this as a reminder. Next time you think of me, picture that girl in this photo, because she’s the one who just stood you up.
Louisa.”
The guy, to Louisa’s surprise, contacted her through Facebook and apologized for his horrible behavior from 10 years ago.
“Hey… For what it’s worth, I was actually here looking for a chance to meet up and make friends, not because you are very good looking. I guess I had it coming though, and certainly don’t blame you for standing me up.
I can’t change who I was 8 years ago, and I won’t insult your intelligence by pretending that it didn’t happen, but I hope you believe me when I say I’m a completely different person now. The only thing I can do is apologize and wish you the very best. I guess I won’t hear from you again but I mean it when I say that I hope you have every success you deserve,” wrote the ex-bully, according to Buzzfeed.
I’m happy Louisa was able to tell her abuser how she felt during all those years. This is perhaps a turning point for her – this brave girl might be a great example for others in similar situations.
