There are always idiots behind the wheel on the road—and I’m pretty sure most of us have screamed at other drivers in frustration. Sometimes, you can’t help but wonder why it’s so hard for some people to follow the traffic laws.
The question now is who the worst drivers are.
Some time ago, a report came out saying that BMW owners are the worst drivers. But now, a new study from the UK says that the most dangerous drivers are those who own a Ford, according to Ladbible.
BMW drivers drive too fast
Car salesman Peter Vardy’s company surveyed over 2,000 drivers. This study concluded that Ford owners are the worst drivers on the roads. They gave themselves a score of 7.3 out of 10 for how sharp they were behind the wheel. However, they also felt all other drivers only deserved a six.
Almost all the drivers surveyed saw themselves above the rest—except for Smart owners.
The study also found that BMW enthusiasts have a more prominent tendency to drive too fast or act disrespectfully in traffic.
Another interesting detail from the study is that men are 10 percent more likely to get caught speeding—even though they consider themselves significantly more skilled than women.
Ford owners usually have more tickets
Claire Rogan, Digital Marketing Manager at Peter Vardy, believes that the discrepancy between drivers’ actual infractions versus how they view their driving skills should cause concern.
“The research shows that, on average, drivers perceive their own driving skill level as higher than those around them. Taking proper due care and attention when behind the wheel should always be at the forefront of our minds when in control of a car, so it is surprising to see our research indicate that over half of all drivers have been penalized for driving offenses,” Said Claire to Ladbible.
Only 55.4% of Ford owners in the survey, which was by far the worst on the list—had no tickets in their record.
“Safety is a key priority for Ford, and we encourage our customers who use Ford vehicles and services to do so in a safe and responsible manner and to comply with any legal requirements,” a spokesperson for the well-known car manufacturer told Ladbible.
So if you see a Ford on the street, watch out!
