Greta Thunberg has been verbally attacked on repeated occasions by world leaders and celebrities. The latest in line to show their dissatisfaction with the 16-year-old Swede was Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro – who called her a “little brat” after the climate activist called attention to the horrible events going on in the Amazon.
Now, however, Greta comeback came through social media – and is being praised by thousands online.
Greta Thunberg has previously replied to harsh criticism from world leaders in a similar way, on Tuesday, however, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro joined the group of “Grown-ups attacking a 16-years-old Swede.”
He called her a “little brat,” according to the British Daily Mail. The reason should be that the 16-year-old expressed concern over the degradation of the Brazilian rainforest and the country’s indigenous population’s steady decline.
“Greta said the Indians died because they defended the Amazon,” President Bolsonaro said. “It’s impressive how the press gives attention to such a little brat.”
Greta’s clever answer
He described Greta with the Portuguese word “pirralha”, which English’s equivalent roughly translates to “little brat”. The Swedish climate activist’s answer? To add the word “pirralha” to the description of her world-renowned Twitter profile.
Later, however, the 16-year-old had to change it back again in response to the demeaning and sarcastic tweet from Donald Trump. “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!” the US president wrote at the time quoting one of her speeches on twitter.
Greta, once again, responded by updating her Twitter profile to: “A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.”
What a strong woman this is – ignoring world leaders trying to attack you is no easy feat, especially when they are almost 5 times your age.
