Are you not tall enough to reach the top shelf in your house? A so-called “shorty”? Or do you have a friend who always has to stand on their toes to see in a crowd?
It can be difficult to properly watch a concert if you end up behind a 2-meter giant. But thankfully, the solution is finally here!
Dominic Wilcox, a modern British artist, has created a pair of periscope-inspired glasses called “One Foot Taller.” These glasses will add one foot to your height. Giving shorter people the chance to watch things from a higher perspective.
The glasses add one foot to the wearer’s height and act as a periscope, extending up into the air and giving them a better overview. Perfect if you are in a crowd or behind a very tall person.
Stop being a shorty
Dominic Wilcox talks about the inspiration that founded the invention.
“I was at a concert and turned around to see a little woman dancing. She was having fun but couldn’t actually see the band. It gave me the idea to design a way for people to see over obstacles, such as tall people like me. It works well, but dancing with them can be a challenge,” he said.
Wilcox’s design makes the smaller mirror in front of you reflect whatever the larger mirror one foot above can see.
This should give the wearer a clearer picture of what is going on in front of them. The unique glasses were first shown at an exhibition in London. The attending inventors were asked to develop exceptional solutions to typical everyday problems.
“Creativity is important because the world has many problems and challenges, and we need a lot more people with creative solutions to solve them,” said Wilcox, according to The Mirror.
