When you’re young, anything can turn into an exciting adventure. A short walk can become a fight against dragons, and recess can turn into a battle in space.
In this story, a phone call becomes an adventure for little Timmy. I found the last line absolutely hilarious, and I hope you will too!
Dad’s colleague calls little Timmy
The phone rang at Timmy’s family’s house, and little Timmy picked up the phone.
“Hello?” he said quietly.
“Hi, this is your Dad’s colleague at work. Is your Daddy home?”
“Yes”, Timmy whispered.
“Can I talk with him?” the man asked.
To the surprise of the colleague, the small voice whispered, “No.”
Wanting to talk with an adult, he asked, “Well then, is your Mommy there?”
“Yes,” came the answer.
“Can I talk with her?”
Again Timmy whispered, “No”.
The colleague found the whole situation very strange. “Well, is there anyone there besides you?”
“Yes,” whispered the child, “a policeman”.
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his colleague’s home, he asked, “Can I speak with the policeman”?
“No, he’s busy”, whispered the child.
“Busy doing what?”
“Talking to Mommy and Daddy and the fireman”, came the whispered answer.
Growing concerned and even worried as he heard a loud noise in the background, the colleague asked, “What is that noise?”
“A helicopter,” answered the whispering voice.
“My God, what is going on over there?” he asked, now alarmed.
In an awed whispering voice, Timmy answered, “The search team just landed the helicopter.”
Alarmed, concerned and more than just a little frustrated, the colleague asked, “A search team?!? What are they doing there?”
Still whispering, the young voice replied along with a muffled giggle, “They’re looking for me.”
