Going a little too fast while driving – it can happen to anyone. You might be late for work, missed a speed limit sign, or want to get home as soon as possible to sit down on the couch and rest from a long day.
Of course, it is not good to go over the speed limit, but it happens. Everyone makes mistakes; we must accept that fact.
A mother-of-five in Providence, Rhode Island, experienced this. However, her “mistake” was being 1 mile over the speed limit. The fact that she still got a speed ticket – seems quite unfair. But the judge’s reaction during the trial made everyone burst in laughter.
Judge Frank Caprio has made himself known through the television program “Caught in Providence.”
He has a rather simple way of approaching his job. He loves to have casual and many times heartwarming conversations with the defendants – we’ve written before about his reactions when a woman got a ridiculous parking ticket.
Driving one mph too fast
Now, this excellent judge strikes again. This time it was Katie, a mother-of-five, who came to court with the whole gang. The children immediately charmed judge Frank – who then asked Alex, the one who talks the most in the family (according to Katie), to come up to the podium.
The little boy answers a few questions from the judge. Like if he would like to be a judge when he grows up, if the officer next to them should receive a raise – or if the mother deserves five days in jail for her crime. On the last question, to everyone’s surprise (and laughter), he is pretty firm on the yes.
Still, she was only driving a mile over the speed limit. The judge asks mostly for fun and does not take the kid’s answers to heart. Instead, he dismisses the case – and tells the mother she is free to go. Frank explains that he also has five children and compliments Katie for having such a beautiful family.
Takes his job seriously
It is a fun, heartwarming and wholesome moment. Everyone in the room was smiling from ear to ear.
