Everyone likes presents, no matter the occasion. Treating your loved ones to nice things becomes a big highlight as you get older. Seeing your grandkids’ faces light up with a smile it’s priceless!
However, it’s hard to decide what to buy someone – there are many things to consider—their hobbies, what they need, what they already have, etc.
With that said, it’s even worse to buy presents for teenagers. Whatever you think is cool could be the most ridiculous thing in the eyes of an 18-year-old.
Like in our story today, where Shelvy Donovan, a teen from New Orleans, was utterly mortified after opening her mother’s Christmas gift.
Back when she was 18 years old, she received a wrapped box from her mother, Kerri Roberts, who had the best intentions.
The gift gave her quite a shock
The mother merrily handed over a package to an excited daughter.
After tearing out the paper from the box, Shelby was completely shocked.
At first glance, she could’ve sworn that what lay inside the box was a small pink dildo – a sex toy. Not exactly what you expect to get from your parents.
A sigh of relief filled the room
She didn’t know what to do, so she ended up sharing it on social media. The photo received hundreds of thousands of likes and comments not too long after.
Many, like Shelby, were convinced that it was indeed a dildo.
Later, however, everyone drew a sigh of relief. It turns out that the gift wasn’t some weird sex toy. Instead, what Shelby had in her hand was a thermos holder. You can see it in action in the picture below.
Her mother, not tainted by the internet (unlike the rest of us), had missed the striking resemblance to a small dildo. The whole family had a good laugh thinking of this innocent misunderstanding.
Dirty-minded
Although Shelby and her mother do love each other, they agree that buying sex toys for one another is a line that they are not willing to cross.
According to her account on social media, Shelby screamed in panic when she saw the contents of the box – but considering what she thought she saw, I can understand her.
However, this is a fun example of how gifts can receive completely different reactions depending on who gets them, especially if you are dirty-minded like most of us.
Some people think that Shelby has quite the imagination. Still, thousands of people got a good laugh from the ordeal.
