Being good at taking care of plants seems to be a rare skill that only some are born with. These “chosen ones” manage to keep their plants looking fantastic without much effort, while the rest of us mere mortals struggle to keep a cactus alive.
The mother of two, Caelie Wilkes, probably belongs to the latter category. For a full two years, she gently watered her beloved succulent.
But when it was time to replant it, Caelie made an embarrassing discovery, to say the least.
Caelie Wilkes, who lives in Grants Pass, Oregon, is passionate about all living things.
Watered it daily
Among other things, she has a penchant for plants—and for the past two years, she has spent many hours taking care of her perfect-looking succulent, reports Ladbible.
The succulent has looked very healthy and happy since the first day she got it. Because Caelie watered and took care of it daily.
At least that’s what she thought. However, after two years, she made an embarrassing and incredible discovery while getting the succulent ready for a replant.
She separated her green pride from the pot and was ready to add new soil and clean the roots, but instead, she was met with a bottom full of polystyrene—a cheap thermoplastic.
It was a fake plant
It turns out that what she had been taking such good care of over the years was not a living succulent—but an artificial plastic plant.
Caelie was so shocked that she decided to share her crazy discovery on Social Media. In her Facebook post, she writes about the incident, which has spread like wildfire online.
“I was so proud”
Many media have also reported on her hilarious mistake.
“I’ve had this beautiful succulent for about two years now. I was so proud of this plant. It was full, beautiful coloring, just an overall perfect plant. I had it up in my kitchen window. I had a watering plan for it. If someone else tried to water my succulent, I would get so defensive because I just wanted to take good care of it. I absolutely loved my succulent..”
The post continues:
“Today, I decided it was time to transplant, and I found the cutest vase that suited it perfectly, I go to pull it from the original plastic container it was purchased with to learn this plant was FAKE. I put so much love into this plant! Washed its leaves. Tried my hardest to keep it looking its best, and it’s completely plastic!” writes the mother.
Do you know someone who also loves plants?
Then tag that person on Facebook, or share this dunny story with your friends! I bet a few of them can relate to this!
