118-year-old nun is the world’s oldest – her secret: wine and chocolate

We all want to live a long and happy life. A hundred years ago, life expectancy was 46 years.

We have come a long way since then (maybe). Nowadays, some people reach the mid-90s without a problem, and some extremely rare ones go past 100.

Such is the case for the protagonist of our story today, the nun André, who’ve reached the age of 118 years oldloves two things:

Wine and chocolate. She is currently the world’s oldest person.

On February 11, 1904, Lucile Randon, now known as sister André, came into this world.

This French nun from the south is the world’s oldest person. She is 118 years old and was born ten years before the First World War officially started.

Lucile made waves online after Japanese Kane Tanaka, the former world record holder, recently passed away at 119 years old.

Lucile has been living in a nursing home since 2009, where she seems to be enjoying herself.

According to Inside Edition, the nun’s weakness is chocolate—and she likes to enjoy a glass of wine every now and then.

“Her glass of wine keeps her going”

To celebrate her 118th birthday earlier this winter, the staff talked about Lucile’s preferences regarding food.

“She likes everything, she has no specific food preferences. She has very, very simple tastes. Of course, she likes sweets and small treats, especially chocolate. It’s her guilty pleasure.

“Her glass of wine keeps her going and is perhaps the secret to longevity. I don’t know, I don’t encourage people to drink, but she does have a glass of wine a day,” David Tavella, who works at the Sainte-Cathrine-Laboure residence in France, told AFP.

Here we can see Lucile Randon in a TV interview:

We wish you the best, Lucile!
