Who is truly smart? This is a difficult question to answer, which has piqued humanity’s curiosity since time immemorial.
One way to measure intelligence is through an IQ test, which can reveal how easy it is for a person to think logically.
Today, we brought you a quick IQ test. It comprises only three questions, but they give a good indication of whether you are as smart as you think or whether you may have to take some classes to catch up.
If you manage to answer the three questions, you are smarter than average, says the study behind it.
Are you truly smart?
This test is called the cognitive reflection test. Which was an extensive part of a report published in 2005 by Professor Shane Frederick from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), reports The Mirror.
The test had 3,000 participants with different educational backgrounds.
Even people on the top of the academic world failed to get all three questions right, which may well be proof that this is not a simple test.

It seems that only 17% managed to find the right solution to all the riddles.

A. A bat and a ball cost $1.10 in total. The bat costs $1.00 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?
B. If it takes five machines five minutes to make five balls – how long would it take 100 machines to make 100 balls?
C. In a lake, there is a patch of lily pads. Every day, the patch doubles in size. If it takes 48 days for the patch to cover the entire lake, how long would it take for the patch to cover half of the lake?

A. 5 cents
If it would cost 10 cents, the total would be $1.20 (as the bat would cost $1.10 on its own). But if the ball is 5 cents, then the bat is $1.05, which gives us $1.10 when added together.
B. 5 minutes
If it takes five machines five minutes to make five balls, that means that each machine produces one ball every 5 minutes. If you then have 100 machines working at the same time, then it would take 5 minutes to produce 100 balls.
C. 47 days
Every day, the area is doubled in size with water lilies. This means that if you count backward, the occupied area is halved each day. If the lake is then completely filled after 48 days, it would be half-covered after 47 days.
