The bad thing about math is that you start to forget how to use it after a while. The days when we went to school are long behind us – and so is the freshness of everything we learned back then.
With that said, it is always fun to challenge yourself with a brainteaser to see what you actually remember.
Solving crosswords, sudoku, or even riddles is a superb way to exercise the mind. I love all types of brainteasers, but lately, I have become quite addicted to math challenges.
Partly because you get to see how much you remember and partly because it’s always nice to overcome a challenge on your own.
I came across the puzzle below a while ago, and I don’t know when was the last time I had to think hard.
I sat down and pushed my brain cells to the limit – I tried all sorts of combinations without succeeding. But in the end, I had to take a peek at the solution.
What is the number?
In the picture below, you’ll see a bunch of parking spaces. All spots have a number written on them. We can also see a car parked in one of the spots.
The question is: What number lies below the car?

What used to be 16, 06, 68, 88, and 98 will instead be 86, 88, 89, 90, and 91.
When you see the picture like that, it is no longer so difficult to figure out that the correct answer is 87.
