Amazing Discovery: Here is the world’s biggest turd

Going to the toilet is one of the most natural things a person can do. What we put in our bodies must, somehow, come out when it is no longer needed. Usually in the shape of a turd.

When you defecate or go number two, you just want to sit down, catch up with your social media, do your business, and move on with your life.

But the fact is that poop contains an amazing amount of interesting information to study, like for example The Lloyd Bank Coprolite. The world’s largest – and most expensive – fossil turd, reports The Vintage News.

The Lloyd Bank Coprolite is no ordinary fecal fossil. It was found in York, England, under the famous Lloyd bank during an excavation in 1972. According to archaeologists, the turd dates as far as back to the 9th century.

The biggest fossil turd

One of the reasons why the coprolite has gotten the interest of so many researchers is its enormous size. The turd is 8 inches long with a 2 inches diameter, which is astoundingly big considering that humans were much smaller back then.

The size of this man-made sausage means that there is a lot of information to extract from it. It is extremely unusual to find such a well-preserved specimen.

What archaeologists have been able to establish is that the turd comes from a real Viking. Who had a diet based on a lot of meat, grains, and bread – alongside lots of worms’ eggs and parasites.

The parasites are due to the fact that people back then often followed a diet that was very bad for the body.

Valued at almost $39,000

During the time that this Viking left behind his giant poop, it was very common to have stomach parasites and researchers have found that people often suffered from severe stomach pain and diarrhea.

Because the poop sausage is so unique, it has been recently valued at almost $39,000.

Today, you can see the coprolite at the Jórvík Viking Center in York, England.
