Giving your mind a workout is never a bad thing – it will be like a nice break from all the stress and worries that come with adult responsibilities.
Recently, in addition to solving puzzles, I’ve been practicing my critical thinking skills, something that I stopped doing after finishing school. It is vital to practice the old operation rules and how to apply them to a problem so that you don’t forget that important knowledge.
To keep my brain in shape, I usually sit on the couch at home and solve a few brainteasers of various kinds. It can be anything from IQ tests to math problems I stumble across online. Regardless, you have to give those brain cells of yours a good workout if you want to overcome the challenges in front of you.
Touching only one of the glasses
I got this next puzzle sent to me by a colleague, and it took me a long time to figure it out.
The challenge itself is the following: you must empty every other glass – but you can only touch one of the glasses at a time. Below we can see the picture.
Were you able to do it? If you didn’t succeed, no worries – the answer will be below.
Answer: you take the second glass from the left and pour it into the fifth glass. That way, we have the following pattern of glasses: full, empty, full, empty, full, empty – in other words, every other glass will be empty.
Bonus challenge
Okay, we’re going another round now that we’ve warmed up. This time, a math problem will be shown below.
Karen has four daughters. And every daughter has a brother. How many children does Karen have in total?
This one is quite tricky and requires some concentration. Do you have an answer ready? Below, we present the solution.
The answer: 5, all the daughters have the same brother.
It sure is fun to exercise the mind again after all this time. Right? Now press that share button below and see if your friends can handle these challenges too!
