We have almost all different preferences when it comes to food and drinks. While I enjoy a cold gin and tonic, my wife prefers a glass of red wine. Nothing wrong about that!
At the same time, it’s interesting to try new flavors, mixes and variants. Just having the same drink or meal every time you go out can get pretty sad in the long run – in my honest opinion, anyway.
But did you know that the things we like the most can actually say something about our personality? I never thought about it, but a new study has discovered that people who love to drink gin, in general, are sexier!
In hindsight – it was pretty obvious…
Over the years, we’ve had the chance to read about how drinks affect our bodies in different ways. Obviously, being more cheerful and social thanks to alcohol is nothing new, but now it turns out that our liquor of choice also says something about us as people.
Beer lovers are more relaxed
Experts conducted a study at Bangor University and King’s College London, where researchers surveyed 30,000 people between the ages of 18 and 34. Participants were from 21 different countries and answered questions regarding drinking habits, thoughts, and feelings.
Finally, it has been possible to relate different personality traits to people based on what they prefer to drink. Some of the clearest examples were that gin lovers are perceived as sexier by their counterparts – and a little more aggressive than the rest, reported Unilad.
Beer and wine enthusiasts turned out to be more drawn to relaxation and leisure, according to the study.
“Understanding emotions associated with alcohol consumption is imperative to addressing alcohol misuse, providing insight into what emotions influence drink choice between different groups in the population,” the researchers wrote in the MBJ Open Journal.
As a gin and tonic lover, I must say that this is extremely gratifying news! There are days when you are not happy with yourself – but next time it happens, I’ll try to think back on this study which tells me I am sexier than the rest.
Drink in moderation
Of course, this kind of research should be taken with a pinch of salt. It’s obviously not 100% accurate. At least I’m fascinated by the fact that it’s possible to draw such conclusions about our personality based on such a simple thing as our favorite drink.
Next time I order something alcoholic, there is no doubt what It will be – a classic gin and tonic!
