We all have different preferences when it comes to what we eat and drink. While I enjoy a cold gin and tonic, my wife prefers a glass of red wine. Nothing strange about that!
At the same time, it may be interesting to test new flavors and combinations. Drinking and eating the same thing over and over can get a little boring in the long run — at least in my opinion.
However, did you know that our food and drink preferences can say something about us as a person? I actually had no idea, but this study shows that we who love drinking gin, in general, are sexier!

Over the years we have been able to learn how drinking affects our bodies in different ways. Alcohol makes you more sociable and cheerful, that’s old news, but it turns out that what we prefer to have in the glass can also say something about us as a person.
Beer-lovers prefer to relax and enjoy
A study, led by experts at Bangor University and King’s College London, surveyed 30,000 people aged between 18 and 34. The participants, from across 21 countries, answered questions about drinking habits, thoughts, and feelings.
Because of that, researchers were able to assign different personality traits based on what the participants preferred to drink. A good example is that gin lovers tend to be sexier — as well as a bit more aggressive, according to Unilad.
Beer and wine lovers prefer to relax and enjoy, according to the study.
“Understanding emotions associated with alcohol consumption is imperative to addressing alcohol misuse, providing insight into what emotions influence drink choice between different groups in the population,” said the authors of the MBJ Open Journal.
Being a gin and tonic lover myself, this was very pleasant news! Next time I feel bad when I look at myself in the mirror — I’ll think of this study, which makes it clear that I’m a sexy beast.
Drink with moderation
However, even if this kind of research should be taken with a pinch of salt, I think it’s amazing that we can understand such things from something like what you prefer to have in your glass.
