It’s well known that cats and birds don’t get along. That’s the first thing I was taught before we got a parakeet when I was little – cats were definitely not allowed to come near the cage.
But among our furry friends, every rule has its exception. The video (below) is an adorable example of just that! I just can’t stop smiling when I see this clip!
As kids, we’re taught which animals can live together and which animals hunt each other. This isn’t foolproof however, but I think most people know that cats and rats as well as kitties and birds don’t get along at all.
Over the years, we’ve seen countless of exceptions to these conventional rules. But still, I had a hard time imagining a cat standing next to a bird without seeing it as a delicious snack.
But earlier today, I found a clip online which is the exception that proves the rule. The budgie Uchan starts every morning by waking up his cat companion Chama. Not only do they live under the same roof, they’re even best friends and play with each other daily.

This clip has more than 5 million views, and it’s easy to see why. The birds impressive stubbornness and the cat’s sleepiness and unwillingness to wake up makes for a hilarious combination.
Finally, Uchan gets his way – and at the end of this adorable video, the budge even gets the equivalent of a kiss.
